Unemployment and under-employment are among the greatest challenges that most adults face in the urban communities of Matagalpa. In response, we work with our local partners to identify viable options for vocational training. Courses are offered in convenient locations to improve access and reduce costs.
Courses are chosen by taking into account the community members’ interests and also the demands of the local economy. To date, we have offered courses in cooking, baking, hair dressing, sewing, English, residential electricity, food processing and carpentry. All participants receive a certificate upon completion, which will help them when seeking formal employment.
