One of the most important elements of our Health & Nutrition program is preventative education. Many common illnesses are caused by poor health and hygienic conditions in schools, homes and communities and can be prevented through education. This is coordinated closely with the Ministry of Health.
Our staff works with students, teachers and parents at each school to plan public health workshops for primary school students and parents. Topics include basic hygiene, water treatment, nutrition, handwashing and other issues that arise during the school year. Workshops are presented with dynamic materials to motivate children to improve conditions in their schools, homes and communities.
We also train a group a group of high school scholarship students in public health so that they may lead workshops for younger children. This is a great learning opportunity for them as well and may motivate some of them to study for a career in the health field.
